Transition Networks launch ION Platform
Transition’s ION Platform is an all new intelligent, high-density, multi-protocol system supporting a variety of network interface devices and media conversion modules.
Designed for both carrier class and enterprise network applications where effective remote management and security are essential. The high density ION chassis is designed to operate in a central office (CO) or data center where multiple points of fiber integration is required.
The ION Platform can be paired with another ION Chassis, an ION stand-alone, or a Transition Networks' point system stand-alone device, providing end-to-end fiber integration.
Benefits offered by the Transition Networks ION Platform include;
- Cost savings to the customer - by combining affordable copper-based equipment and a fiber infrastructure.
- Flexibility - ION cards are modular & independent, supporting various communication protocols within 1 chassis.
- Scalability - Hot-swappable design allows for the installation of new cards as and when they are needed.
- Intelligence - Efficiently monitor the chassis, modules and power supplies via SNMP through the optional management module.
- Reliability - Provided through redundant power supplies (AC or DC) and high CFM cooling fans.
- Security - Advanced features ensure only authorized personnel have access to the management system.
- Future proof - Fibre infrastructure reduces the need for upgrades to the cabling, while development on new modules will keep the ION platform current.
The ION Platform consists of the following; A chassis, AC or DC Power Supply, Management Module, and Slide-in Interface modules, all of which are now available from Microtel.
