A SmartNode VoIP router can provide PSTN fallback with voice-and-data survivability for business continuity in case of an Internet or IP network failure. While most networks today employ session initiation protocol (SIP) for voice encoding, the earlier standard, H.323, is still in use. The best high-quality products can support both protocols, which are encapsulated in the data payload of the real-time protocol (RTP) protocol data unit (PDU). Another benefit is the capability to provide quality of service (QoS) mechanisms, especially in the downstream path.

SN4400 Series

SN4520 Series
The SmartNode SN4520 Series supports up to eight simultaneous calls, connects to any legacy telephone or PBX, and provides dial tone, ringing, and caller-ID. When equipped with FXO ports, the local PSTN enables local calling, enhanced toll-bypass services, and fallback configurations. ClearConnect adaptive network monitoring ensures your call always gets connected even if the VoIP link goes down or becomes congested.
With dual 10/100 Ethernet ports, the SN4520 Series provides IP routing with guaranteed Quality of Service. Voice traffic is prioritised, while LAN/IP traffic shaping permits efficient access to the Internet and corporate networks. As a complete enterprise router, the SN4520 supports DHCP, NAT, Firewall/ACL, and PPPoE clients. While IPSEC VPN and VLAN tunnel data while DES, 3DES or AES enables secure voice and data over the public network.

SN4740
The SmartNode 4740 VoIP Gateway enables users to preserve investments in legacy phone equipment while taking the next step towards unified communication. Providing 16 to 128 FXS and soon FXO interfaces and two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, the SN4740 delivers a reliable, cost-effective solution for the Enterprise.

SN4980 Series - T1/E1/PRI interface
The SmartNode 4980A VoIP Gateway-Router-eSBC allows Enterprises to IP-enable their legacy PBX systems. The SN4980A Series now has more state-of-the-art features such as SIP-TLS, SRTP, TR-069, Patton Cloud connect, Survivability features, and much more.
The SN4980A supports any-to-any multi-path switching (simultaneous SIP, ISDN, and POTS calls with routing and conversion between TDM/PSTN and IP/Ethernet networks—plus T.38 and SuperG3 FAX). VoIP-over-VPN with voice encryption provides secure voice and data via IPsec, OpenVPN, or L2TP tunnelling protocol in addition to SIP-TLS & SRTP. Providing one to four T1/E1/PRI and two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports for up to 120 VoIP calls, the SN4980A with built-in IP Router delivers secure, prioritised unified communications.

SN5530
The SN5530 eSBC router is the perfect choice for All-IP applications where legacy, non-replaceable ISDN equipment has to be integrated into a UCC environment. For pure All-IP Networks, the SmartNode acts as a service termination point towards the enterprise with an integrated VDSL / ADSL WAN interface.
With the separate config domain feature, the SN5530 will be the service demarcation point for SIP Trunk service providers, where the local administrator can be limited to only modifying configuration settings facing the LAN IP PBX.
The SN5530 acts as VoIP Gateway, eSBC, Access Router and QoS CPE all in one device, providing 2 to 8 BRI ports for up to 16 simultaneous phone or fax calls.

SN5540
The SmartNode 5541 is a cost-effective router + eSBC with integrated Broadband access and up to 8 FXS/FXO ports supporting high-level VoIP and network security. It can do up to 200 SIP to-SIP calls, of which four can be transcoded. The SmartNode acts as a service termination point toward the enterprise with an integrated Broadband access termination for G.SHDSL, VDSL, ADSL or Fibre SFP.
The SN5540 acts as VoIP Gateway, eSBC, Access Router and QoS CPE all in one device.

With its built-in Security features such as SIP TLS, SRTP, Stateful Firewall and Secure provisioning, it protects the LAN networks from fraud strikes out of the Internet.
The SN5570 supports 1 or 2 ISDN E1/T1 PRI ports. 30 simultaneous G.722, T.38 or G.711 ISDN to VoIP calls. Including SIP TLS and SRTP support for 30 calls.
